Here at Polka Dot Tea we’ve been very lucky to be one of the first shops in Australia to receive the new seasonal Liberty ranges.
We’ll be sharing these beauties with our Liberty Club members over the coming months, and may be able to list some separately in the shop too.
If you’re interested in building a Liberty stash, our Liberty Club is the perfect way to get started. Every month subscribers receive a bundle hand-selected by us, from seasonal and classic ranges. You can choose to receive fat sixteenths or fat eighths. A very economical way to collect some gorgeous fabrics.
Club subscriptions are open to customers in Australia and internationally, just choose the appropriate button in the menu in the side bar. **NEW** We have introduced a special price point for New Zealand subscribers.
If you have any queries regarding the club, or purchasing Liberty separately, please feel free to drop us a line at email@example.com.
Polka Dot Tea’s first entry to the Bloggers Quilt Festival is this stunning but simple star quilt made by Jeannette.
Ever since we started Polka Dot Tea just over six months ago we’ve been waiting for the opportunity to put a beautiful stack of fabric into quilty action ourselves! This opportunity presented itself beautifully with the arrival of a gorgeous bundle from Yuwa. Sweet vintage sewing notions, patisserie and macaron motifs, postage stamps, tiny florals. So much sweetness!
Jeannette chose a simple 12″ eight pointed star block to showcase the pretty prints, combining them with a rainbow of solids, and then quilted them with a Modern Waves pattern. Such a happy quilt!
Thanks for visiting! We hope you have a great weekend checking out all the other lovelies in the Bloggers Quilt Festival.
Whenever new fabric arrives, I’m immediately thinking about which combinations look good together – whether it be for a quilt, or a bag, or a skirt – whatever! I love the look of two or three fabrics combined. This bag employs the concept beautifully, here we’ve used a sweet aqua retro flower and bow print (in a home dec weight), together with the postcard print in linen. What a gorgeous result!
Both fabrics are by Kei and are available in the shop. You can find the aqua retro flower and bow print on sale here. And the postcard linen print is here.
The pattern is by BeBeBold. Sewing credit to my lovely Mum!
Lots of lovely fabric keeps coming through our door. We’re excited to be building up our ranges that will appeal to both quilters and garment-sewists.
If you’ve been into the store recently you might have noticed we now stock Liberty fabrics. Liberty needs no introduction, being the hallmark of luxurious, fine cotton lawn fabrics. We’ve been busy choosing a range of prints that we think you’ll love. You can choose to purchase individual fat eighths, or pick a bundle of your favourites – in fat sixteenths too, if you prefer. This is a great way to get a lot of Liberty for a not-too-big price!
Also new this week is our range of melange yarn-dyed cottons by Lecien. These are a chambray style and are perfect for quilt backgrounds where you’re wanting to add a little texture and interest, and also for garments – think dresses, skirts and shirts, not to mention bags! We’re very excited about these fabrics and we hope you will be too. They’re incredibly soft and smooth, but with the look of linen. If you’ve used Essex linen previously, we think you’ll be super-impressed by these. We think they’re even better. Available in the shop in bundles or individually. We’re also happy to send you a little sample if you’re curious, just drop us a line! contact (a) polkadottea (dot) com.
Finally today, our range of Michael Miller Cotton Couture solids is expanding – we now stock sixteen popular colours and now have the right colours to be able to put together a rainbow bundle of fat quarters! A great way to sample these lovely fabrics, they really are the bee’s knees of quilting solids. Don’t forget we will discount for larger orders of the Cotton Couture solids – if you make a purchase of 5 metres or more (and it doesn’t matter if it’s one colour or smaller cuts of multiple colours), we’ll give you a 15 per cent discount.
We’ve been open for a month and we’re thrilled to have met so many people through our shop. We love helping you put together the perfect bundle, whether it be for a specific project or perhaps just to – ahem – enhance your stash.
To celebrate our first monthiversary, we’re doing a couple of things – firstly there is a giveaway happening over with our friend Lynne at Lilysquilts. She’ll be giving away a bundle of 20 fat quarters from the Polka Dot Tea shop. Just spread the word to increase your chances of winning!
At the same time, we decided to have a little sale. There’s 20 per cent off everything in the shop (minimum purchase $24). This includes custom orders – just send us a convo through the shop (or an email, if you prefer – firstname.lastname@example.org) and we’ll put up a listing just for you. The code for the sale is LILYSQUILTS and it’s good through until Monday 1 December.
We hope you’ll pop in and check out the lovelies we have selected for the shop and pick up a bundle.
We have also set up a newsletter subscription which you’ll see to your right in the sidebar. Sign up for the newsletter and we’ll send you occasional news about what’s coming and special offers for subscribers. There are lots of new things coming soon and we can’t wait to tell you about them!
We’re very excited about this new addition to the Polka Dot Tea stable – the Polka Dot Tea charm pack!
Forty, five inch squares of our favourite fabrics. A great way to get a little sample of a huge range of fabrics. I love how they’re all so different yet somehow go together so well. I’m thinking a quilt with this eclectic mix of colours could be on the cards! We’ve included some of our low volume prints, we know how much everyone is loving using low volume prints in place of plain old neutral background colours – they add a bit of texture and interest and are so pretty on their own too!
These packs would also make a great stocking filler for a crafty friend!
Lots of new fabric has been arriving on the doorstep at Polka Dot Tea! We’ve been busy loading up the shop, and putting beautiful bundles together that we think you’ll love.
We love our range of Geostyles by Kei. These are such versatile fabrics and are suitable for both quilting and garment-making. There are some gorgeous geometric print in lovely light colours that would look fabulous in a little summer top, as well as pieced into a quilt.
The thing that we love most about the Geostyles, other of course than the gorgeous range of prints and colours, is the hand. These really are such beautiful, soft fabrics, unlike so many other fabrics available today. They feel very similar to a cotton lawn.
Hop over to the shop and have a look at the bundles – there are squares, checks, sketchy checks, buttons, and our favourite, the geodots!
Also pictured below you’ll see the famous ‘Je Vous un Prie’ print from Kei. We have this print in three colours – grey, red and teal. Unfortunately this staple of any modern stash is no longer being reprinted. The teal is almost gone but we have some of the grey and red left. Grab it while you can!
Our first shipment is here, and we think you’re going to love it! Seven lovely bolts from Yuwa’s Live Life and sixty-eight collections. A low volume feast! Perfect paired as a background to your favourite bold-coloured prints, in Zakka projects, quilts, bags and more.
While we work on getting our shopfront up and running, we have already started taking orders. These fabrics are available as a fat quarter bundle for $55 including shipping in Australia (or $69 international), and as a fat eighth bundle for $27.50 including shipping in Australia (or $34 international). Send an email to contact (at) polkadottea (dot) com or contact us via our Instagram (find us @polkadotteafabrics).
You will also be able to order fabrics individually by the fat quarter (or more) from our shop very soon. If you can’t wait, in the meantime feel free to send us an email and we can let you know prices and invoice you if you’d like to order.
Note we will be cutting fat quarters to Australian sizing (i.e. approximately 50cm x 55cm) – slightly larger than a US fat quarter (45cm x 55cm).
We’ll be back soon with more gorgeous fabrics to show you!
